Welcome to Shamali.se!

The naming of Salukis is a difficult matter. It is not just one of your holidaygames. When I say this you think I?m as mad as a hatter that a Saluki must have three different names, First a Saluki must have a name that…..

We open the doors to a world of beauty, history, and passion for animals. Our first Saluki born 1973 Khalil´s Ceiba and 1980 our fist litter vas born, the Q-litter . Shamali has been an oasis for the noblest of houndbreeds: Salukis are anchored in ancient Egyptian and Middle Eastern cultural history,

Shamali has embarked on a journey spanning for more than four decades and is driven by the vision and expertise of the founder, Christer Edling and his wife Inger Sjöström.

Christer Edling, then based in the village Tjälen, Sävar, north of Umeå, Sweden, nowerdays the village Vännäs, west of Umeå has not only been a pioneering breeder but also a prominent inofficial judge and respected voice in European and international Saluki breeding. His dedication and knowledge has shaped generations of these noble animals and inspired an entire community of many enthusiasts worldwide.

But Shamali´s passion extends beyond breeding arenas. Shamali owners are enamored with cultural history and the mystical beauty of the ancient Egyptian and Middle Eastern heritage. At Shamali, you will find an extensive library filled with treasures of ancient Egyptian and Saluki literature and Newsletters a source of knowledge and inspiration for all who share our fascination with ancient civilizations.

Our love for ancient Egypt and Middle Eastern also shines through our involvement in cultural-historical events and initiatives. We believe in preserving and promoting cultural heritage for future generations and actively work to make it possible.
